Zika in Pregnancy

Zika Assessment -- There is no treatment. If high suspicion for Zika infection during this pregnancy, positive IgM/PCR or concerning ultrasound recommend Perinatology Consultation.
1. New prenatal patient who has been in Zika area during pregnancy whether or not they had symptoms or mosquito bites
Order anatomy ultrasound when 18 weeks or greater looking for small HC or cerebral calcifications
If < 12 weeks since they returned, order Zika IgM--currently miscellaneous test. Requires filling out public health unusual case request form and lab form

The Laboratory Requisition Form can be found here: http://cchealth.org/laboratory/pdf/lab_test_form.pdf
2. New patient with symptoms now or within last 10 days
Send Zika IgM and Zika PCR. Call Public Health at 925-313-6740. Fill out forms above.
Ultrasound as above.
3. Patient in labor who was in Zika area during pregnancy
Send Zika IgM if < 12 weeks since return, and especially if she reports mosquito bites, Zika in area where she was staying.
Notify peds/nursing to assess baby.
4. Patient with ultrasound showing HC < 10% or cerebral calcifications
Consult Perinatology
